Hmmmmmm…..so, What’s In a Name?
If you go to my Welcome page i sort of explain my views.
This is for those of you who may come to my blog and know me a little bit and find yourselves wondering why i mention the name Jehovah so much in my blogs both here and on my Straight Ahead Outreach website.
Well, it is simple really. Yes, i used to be, formerly a Jehovah’s Witness. I am not one of the JW Haters out there. I am proud and Thankful to them for teaching me a great great deal about Jesus Christ and His Father in Heaven. For teaching me, actually helping me to see what God’s name is. Yes, that is where i learned God’s name as Jehovah and also Yahweh as many other religious entities also state, not just Jehovah’s Witnesses. I am now in and on my own very personal path (and have been since 1993) with Jesus and his Father in Heaven, Jehovah and not part of any organized religion.
So, whats in a name?
Well, i call my wife Patty for example. Or Patreesha to be silly. Or Patty Watty when i am being really silly. Pat, when i am extremely serious and talking to her in a business environment. She goes by and likes to be called Pat. Her real name is Patricia.
What do you call your wife for real on a consistent basis? Hey Woman? Hey Wife? Hey Chick?
What do you call your husband on a consistent basis? Hey Man? Hey Husband? Dude?
Many times jokingly, yes, you may indeed call them those things. But not for the most part. For the most part you call them by name, endearing them.
I could go on and on with examples of titles we could use on a daily basis, like Hey Manager or Hey Executive Director or Hey Chief of Operations!
What if you were at a convention of business executives and you yelled out……..Hey Director! What would happen? A large number of people, both men and women would most likely turn their heads toward you and wonder….What? What? You talkin to me? Right? :-))!
This is why i chose to use what i personally believe to be our Almighty God‘s name. Jehovah.
There are many religions out there and thus many gods depicted as you and i all know. Even satan is called the “god of this system of things, ruler of the earth.”
So, i like to make sure i am calling on and being precise in who i am calling our God Almighty. The Creator of all things, Jesus Christ’s FATHER IN HEAVEN, Jehovah God Almighty, the very exact one that Jesus Christ Himself is sitting at the right hand of, building His coming government which will rule to time indefinite.
So, there you have it, just in case you were wondering why i use the name Jehovah all the time.

Jesus-isms... 
Well now! I’m glad to hear you say this out loud. Most people (me being one them once) don’t know or understand that God is a title, just like Christ. Their names are Jehovah and Jesus – one is the Almighty, the other his son, the Savior. I have to admit since learning this, it’s been so much easier for me to get personal with the Father and his son. I don’t see them as such abstract beings. As you and I have discussed, I can see them sitting together in the place they dwell, looking down on us together and sometimes laughing, other times angry, sometimes deeply hurt. Their names have made them much, much more REAL to me. What’s in a name – it’s what makes you unique and Jehovah and Jesus are certainly at the top of uniqueness. :-)
